What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday #208

#208. Yes, you read that right. This is the 208th time that creative folk around the world have shared their desks, with anyone who cares to pop in for a good nose around. Four whole years of desk hopping. Happy Birthday Julia!

The kitchen table was all stacked up this morning, with everything I needed for class. Ready to be loaded into my little Clio. From that to this.

We made a card incorporating several techniques. Using markers, to colour a stamp directly, to achieve a multi coloured image. Inking an embossing folder to give it a vintage look. Inking the edges of punched shapes to give them more definition and layering them to make a 3D flower. So much to share.

My plan for this anniversary blog hop, is to visit as many of you as is humanly possible. It is half term here and I have a busy weekend coming up, so it will probably take me until next Wednesday to get all the way around, but I’ll give it my best shot.

I’m looking forward to meeting some of you on Saturday at the crop and I’m hoping to have a few ATCS made by then, if anyone would like to swap with me. Can’t wait!

The Great Big Swap of Very Small Things

Just a quick post from me today to share the lovely little package of goodies that plopped onto my door mat earlier this week from Estelle.

P1020680

A gorgeous selection picked with obvious care, to include lots of my favourite colours, namely purple, teal and turquoise, along with some sea shells and other pretties that reflect the name of my blog. Thank you so much Estelle and many thanks to Sian, of course, for dreaming up this Great Big Swap.

When I was filling my own package, ready to send, I was reminded of something that I did in primary school. After searching through a few boxes, I found what I was thinking of and will share that little story soon. You’ll only have to wait until the first Sunday of next month. Not long to go now.

Have a lovely weekend.

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday #207

I’m late, I’m late and there’s nothing on my kitchen table to share today. Well that’s not strictly true, just nothing crafty and I don’t think my girl would be up for sharing the very last slice of her birthday cake with you.

I’ve spent the day motivating my boy to study for the last of his English Lit. papers tomorrow and to that end we’ve had a date with the weaver of Raveloe this afternoon. The production is somewhat dated but it did the job.

Talking of my boy, I do have something crafty to share. This card that he drew, for his sister, on her birthday.

Short and sweet again, Julia will be so pleased. I’ll do my best to get round a few desks later. Right now I have Paprika Chicken, a la The Hairy Bikers, to cook.

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday #206

Another week between posts. My poor neglected blog. GCSEs in full swing now.

P1020659

The contents of the kitchen table at approximately 6am. I like to pack on the morning of the class, then I know that I have everything I need. If I did it in advance I’d only have to unpack again just to be sure. Today’s projects were a box for a cupcake and matching card, plus a simple 20 minute card.

I arrived at the Arts Centre in monsoon conditions and left in brilliant sunshine. Is it really May? I’m still wearing my Winter boots! Time for a very quick coffee and a few desk visits before the children get home from school. See you there.

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday #205

How can it be Wednesday again already? I know lots of us say this every week, but seriously, how can can it be? I haven’t blogged since the last WOYWW. It must be the combination of a Bank Holiday weekend, making a short working/school week and impending GCSE exams. Stressful times and I’m not even the one taking them!

P1020658

In a bid to be more organised with my classes, I’m making all the ‘Blue Peter’ bits today. Yes, that’s right, a whole week in advance. I don’t know what has come over me. We’ll be making a little box, perfectly sized to present a cupcake in. There will be two cards, one to match the box and a second design, yet to be dreamed up. But I’ve got a whole week, right? There’s always next Tuesday night for that one.

Hop on over to Julia’s place if you want to see more crafty work spaces. I’ll be round to visit with a nice cup of coffee later.

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday #204

Here we are again and this is what the kitchen table, which passes for my workdesk, looked like at 6am this morning. I didn’t tidy away last night, because I knew I’d be up first and could pack it into a box before anyone needed to eat.

P1020632

My card looks a bit wonky, because I hadn’t actually stuck anything down at this point. The piles of card, at the back of the table, are kits ready to take to class.

Here’s the finished article, photographed when I got home. One of three that we made today. I’ve gone back to basics as several ladies have joined the class recently and although they have made cards before, stamping is new to them.

That’s it from me, short and sweet today. Julia will be pleased.
